BTPN’s Jenius Advocates for Personal Data Security in the Digital Era
Importance of Maintaining Security of Personal Data in the Digital Era: Jenius Safe Program Launch and Cyber Security Measures
In a bid to enhance public awareness on the importance of safeguarding personal data in the digital age, PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) has launched the Jenius digital financial service. The initiative aims to educate the public on the significance of maintaining the security of confidential information, especially in the era of digital transactions.
Irwan Tisnabudi, the Head of Digital Banking at BTPN, emphasized that ensuring the security of customer data and funds is a top priority for the company. To achieve this, BTPN has implemented a layered security system, utilizing international standard technology, data isolation, and protection measures. The system is also closely monitored by regulatory bodies such as Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
During the launch of the Jenius Safe Program, Irwan highlighted that cybercrimes, particularly those involving social engineering tactics, pose a significant threat to customers. As a proactive measure, BTPN has introduced additional security measures, including a policy of one connected device and restricted login access on unlinked devices.
Cyber security observer Teguh Aprianto underscored the need for heightened vigilance among users of digital platforms, especially in light of the evolving cybercrime landscape. He advised customers to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited calls, messages, or social media communications requesting personal or confidential information. Teguh also warned against clicking on suspicious links to mitigate potential risks.
Despite the growing prevalence of cybercrimes, BTPN’s internal study revealed a concerning lack of public awareness on social engineering tactics. The study found that a majority of individuals were unaware of the confidential nature of information such as the name and expiration date on debit cards. Additionally, a significant portion of the population had encountered cybercriminals, with some falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
In conclusion, while financial institutions bear the responsibility of safeguarding customer data and funds, customers play a crucial role in protecting their own information. By staying informed and exercising caution in their digital interactions, individuals can mitigate the risks posed by cybercrimes and contribute to a safer online environment.
