Seven Hills remains vigilant about cyber security, welcomes new IT provider
Seven Hills, Ohio City Council Approves Cyber Liability Insurance Contract with Tokio Marine HCC
Seven Hills, Ohio City Council recently approved a one-year, $10,066 contract with Tokio Marine HCC for cyber liability insurance. This move comes as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to protect against cyber-attacks and breaches.
Seven Hills Finance Director Rich Petrunyak highlighted the importance of cyber insurance in mitigating damages that could arise from incidents such as business email compromise and ransomware. He also mentioned that the city has not experienced any claims, losses, or damages from attempted cyber incidents.
Mayor Anthony D. Biasiotta explained that the city added cyber liability insurance more than five years ago after identifying a gap in coverage during an insurance review. The recent change in providers from Lloyd’s CFC to Tokio Marine HCC also resulted in a cost decrease, with the previous contract costing $13,825.
In a related move, City Council approved a one-year contract with Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. for the city’s IT services, including cyber security coverage. The $91,000 agreement aims to enhance the city’s IT coverage and improve services, with a focus on streamlining processes and addressing IT issues promptly.
Overall, these decisions reflect Seven Hills’ commitment to staying ahead of cyber threats and protecting confidential information. As Mayor Biasiotta emphasized, even with a small government, it is crucial to be prepared for potential cyber security challenges.
