The bus service and paratransit operator in Contra Costa County discovered that an “unauthorized actor” may have accessed files and data stored within its network. While the exact extent of the breach is still unknown, County Connection has taken steps to secure its network and has hired a specialized cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident.

County Connection is currently conducting a thorough review of the data stored on its servers to determine what information may have been accessed and who may be affected. The transit authority is also in the process of locating address information in order to provide direct notice to impacted individuals.
