The Center for Digital Government (CDG) has announced the winners of the 23rd annual Digital Cities Survey, recognizing cities that are utilizing technology to strengthen cybersecurity, enhance transparency, digital privacy rights, and digital equity. The top 10-ranking cities in each population category will be honored at the Digital Cities Awards event at the National League of Cities “City Summit” on November 16th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Among the winners are the City of Los Angeles, which is leading the way in using technology to support housing the homeless and increase public safety. The Long Beach Technology & Innovation Department in California is providing a customer-focused environment and has developed innovative solutions for homelessness services. Scottsdale, Arizona, is committed to delivering “simply better service” through innovation, trust, and equitable public service delivery.

Other winners include the City of Carlsbad, California, which is prioritizing community-wide digital transformation and connectivity, and the City of Tamarac, Florida, which is excelling in cybersecurity systems and policies.

The survey also highlighted the top IT programs and projects that cities are likely to focus on in the next 12-18 months, including cybersecurity, constituent engagement, and data governance. The most pressing challenges faced by cities in the past year include ensuring multi-year funding and dealing with the impact of extreme crises on constituents and businesses.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute focused on technology policy and best practices in state and local government. Congratulations to all the 2023 Digital Cities Survey Winners!
