Green Expert Technology Inc. to Provide Cyber Security Support for Navy Arleigh Burke-class Destroyers

Green Expert Technology Inc. in Haddonfield, N.J., Secures $13 Million Order for Cyber Security Support for Navy Destroyers

PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Navy has turned to Green Expert Technology Inc. in Haddonfield, N.J., for cyber security software and support for the integrated bridge control systems aboard Navy Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided-missile destroyers. This move comes as part of a $13 million order announced by officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division last Friday.

The cyber security enhancements provided by Green Expert Technology will help safeguard the sophisticated computer-based integrated bridge systems aboard the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers against enemy attempts to compromise navigation and control systems. Additionally, these enhancements will help mitigate potential issues related to computer bugs.

Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are known for their advanced capabilities, relying on the Aegis combat system and SPY-1D multi-function passive electronically scanned array radar. These surface warships are equipped with more than 90 missiles and are larger and more heavily armed than previous classes of guided-missile cruisers.

The integrated bridge systems aboard these destroyers are part of the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems segment in Charlottesville, Va. These systems play a crucial role in modernizing the Burke-class destroyers, ensuring their affordability and combat readiness throughout their life cycles.

The Integrated Bridge and Navigation Systems (IBNS) handle automated collection, processing, control, and display of ship control and navigation sensor data, enhancing bridge watch efficiency and ship control safety. These systems offer a range of features including voyage planning, radar contact tracking, machinery control interfaces, and more.

Green Expert Technology will carry out the work in Haddonfield, N.J., and Philadelphia, with an expected completion date of May 2025. The project could potentially continue through May 2029.
