GoTo Group Collaborates with Cybercreation to Increase MSME Digital Literacy on Personal Data Protection

JAKARTA – The GoTo Group, known as the largest digital ecosystem in Indonesia, is taking steps to enhance digital literacy among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) regarding personal data protection. In a move to support the government’s efforts in promoting digital literacy, GoTo signed a memorandum of understanding with the Creative Digital Literacy Movement on Monday, February 6.

The collaboration aims to boost the digital literacy of millions of GoTo business partners across various cities in Indonesia. With the recent passing of the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) in October 2022, this partnership is crucial in educating MSMEs on data security.

Leny Suwardi, SVP Group Head of Data Protection and Privacy Officer (DPPO) at GoTo, emphasized the importance of MSMEs understanding data security as a vital aspect of digital literacy. He stated, “Creating a digital ecosystem that is truly safe requires the cooperation of various parties: qualified technology, adequate regulations, and technology users who understand how to protect data and privacy.”

To further support MSMEs in understanding the PDP Law, GoTo is collaborating with Cybercreation to conduct informative activities. The signing of the memorandum of understanding was also welcomed by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, with Director General Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan acknowledging MSMEs as frequent targets of cybercrimes.

“We welcome the GoTo Group’s active participation in assisting the government in socializing the PDP Law. As a strategic partner, a digital company like GoTo can set an example for other companies in managing personal data in accordance with the law,” said Sammy.

These initiatives include obtaining industry-leading security certifications, forming data protection teams, and conducting personal data security campaigns.
