Minister Tito Karnavian emphasizes security of voter data for 2024 Regional Elections

Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has emphasized the importance of ensuring the security of voter data during the upcoming 2024 Regional Elections, scheduled to take place on November 27. During the handover of the List of Potential Election Voters (DP4) from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the General Elections Commission (KPU), Karnavian called for cooperation, communication, and a strong security system to protect voter information.

With the upcoming elections, it is crucial to safeguard personal data as outlined in Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection. Karnavian stressed the need to prevent data breaches and ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The DP4, which contains the names of 207,110,768 voters, has been carefully prepared using criteria such as age eligibility and exclusion of members of the Indonesian Defense Forces and National Police.

As Indonesians prepare to elect governors, deputy governors, mayors, and other local officials, the government is taking steps to ensure a smooth and secure voting process. With the support of the KPU and regional governments, efforts are being made to uphold the principles of democracy and protect the rights of voters.
