Equnix Business Solutions Launches ESE 11DB/PostgresTM Feature to Enhance Data Security in Indonesia

JAKARTA – Equnix Business Solutions made a significant move in the field of data security by officially launching the ESE 11DB/PostgresTM feature in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 22. This launch demonstrates Equnix’s commitment to advancing its research efforts to provide cutting-edge solutions for corporations in safeguarding their data. The introduction of this latest feature addresses the pressing need for compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP) regulation.

Data leaks pose serious threats that can jeopardize the security of individuals, companies, and even the nation as a whole. In the digital age, data breaches can signify vulnerabilities in our country’s defense system. Therefore, it is crucial for all companies in Indonesia to play a role in enhancing national defense by preventing data leaks.

The increasing incidents of data breaches underscore the necessity for more effective and robust preventive measures, with the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) being a key step. Companies and institutions are mandated to adhere to these regulations to avoid penalties and uphold their reputation.

According to the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII), there have been alarming reports of personal data leaks from private entities, including data related to 34 million Indonesians’ passports in July 2023. Additionally, there was an alleged leak of data from 337 million individuals stored in the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which was reportedly sold on online forums. These incidents contribute to the growing list of data breach cases in Indonesia over the years.

The PDP Law, which was enacted on October 17, 2022, reflects the government’s commitment to upholding individuals’ right to privacy and information security. However, the absence of implementation guidelines poses a significant challenge for Indonesia, with the completion of derivative laws being a pressing issue.

Despite the PDP Law being ratified and set to take effect immediately, a two-year transition period is provided for companies and institutions to comply with the law (2022-2024). With the deadline for this transition period approaching in just four months, organizations must ensure that all personal data processing aligns with the procedures outlined in the PDP Law.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the growing consumer demand for transparency in the use of personal data by service providers. The government is actively engaging all stakeholders to formulate derivative regulations for the PDP Law to maximize its benefits.

“The ratification of the PDP Law in 2022 presents Indonesia with various opportunities to enhance the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights, facilitate business activities, and promote innovation in a more prudent manner,” stated Budi Arie.

Highlighting the global concern for data protection, Budi cited data from the International Association of Privacy Professional, revealing that 68 percent of consumers worldwide are apprehensive about their data security. Moreover, 85 percent of consumers seek transparency in how their personal data is utilized by service providers.

Legal expert and PDP Watch Indonesia activist Agus Djunarjanto emphasized the significance of data security as an integral part of personal data protection, underscoring the need for legal safeguards.

At the launch event of the ESE 11DB/PostgresTM Feature, CEO of PT Equnix Business Solutions Julyanto Sutang outlined the five main causes of data leaks, including internal fraud, low IT security awareness, illegal access, malware, and confidentiality agreement violations.

The ESE 11DB/PostgresTM feature offers robust data security protection for institutions and corporations handling sensitive information. With functions such as seamless data protection, Quantum-proof AES-256 encryption, world-standard key management, patented indexing for fast encrypted data retrieval, and efficient encryption utilizing hardware acceleration, this feature ensures comprehensive data security.

Julyanto emphasized the importance of technology in data protection, especially in complying with regulations like the PDP Law. As technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily operations, ensuring security and privacy is paramount.

In conclusion, the launch of the ESE 11DB/PostgresTM Feature marks a significant step towards enhancing data security in Indonesia and ensuring compliance with the PDP Law. By implementing comprehensive security measures, corporations can mitigate the risks of data breaches and safeguard sensitive information effectively.
